Gordon Ayaba Mahama, Corporate Affairs Officer of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), has taken a swipe at the minority leader, Alexander Afenyo Markins, accusing him of misleading Ghanaians and presiding over alleged irregularities in military recruitment.

Interacting with the panel on Kessben Maakye today he said, Ghanaians have not forgotten what he describes as the NPP’s treatment of citizens while in government. He referenced claims made by Afenyo Markins during the State of the Nation Address (SONA), where concerns were raised about alleged scandal by government officials in military recruitment processes.

He argued that the allegation was baseless and misleading to the public and opposition NPP, as a minority leader.

Touching on international affairs, Gordon Mahama described the ongoing Middle East conflict as unfortunate and stressed the need for Ghana to insulate itself from global geopolitical shocks.

On the energy front, he disclosed that the government has been proactive in engaging key sector players, including the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) and the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST), to keep more reserves and maintain stability in the petroleum downstream sector.

He revealed plans to revamp the Tema Oil Refinery to boost output to about 100 thousand barrels per day, in addition to its existing 55- thousand barrels capacity, as part of efforts to cushion the country against external supply disruptions.

Gordon Mahama noted that COVID-19 global crises have offered Ghana important lessons, urging stakeholders to strengthen the oil and gas industry to ensure long-term energy security and economic resilience.

He concluded by calling for unity and strategic reforms to position Ghana’s petroleum sector as a key driver of national development.
