I suspect insider trading – Gideon Boako calls for a probe into suspected insider trading in Gold market

The Member of Parliament for Tano North in the Ahafo Region, Gideon Boako, has raised concerns over possible insider trading in Ghana’s gold market, calling for an independent and nonpartisan investigation into the matter.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament of Ghana, the Ghanaian financial economist and politician said recent developments in the country’s gold sector raise suspicions that certain individuals may be benefiting from privileged information linked to government decisions.
Dr. Boako stated that transparency and accountability are essential in managing Ghana’s natural resources, particularly gold, which remains a major contributor to the country’s economy.
“I suspect insider trading in the gold market by government,” he said, stressing that the allegations must be thoroughly investigated to maintain public trust in the management of the sector.
The Tano North MP therefore called for a nonpartisan probe to establish the facts and determine whether any laws or ethical standards have been breached.
He added that a transparent investigation would help protect the integrity of Ghana’s financial and commodities markets and ensure that national resources are managed in the best interest of all citizens.
