Animals are gradually becoming more law-abiding than some Ghanaians – Caller on Kessben FM’s Food For Thought opines

Speaking to host Rev. Vincent Kankam on Kessben FM’s Food For Thought, a caller observed that “animals are gradually becoming more law-abiding than some human beings.”
The statement was meant to draw attention to what he sees as a worrying trend among some Ghanaians.
The caller linked this concern to the growing rejection of local languages in favor of foreign ones, especially English.
According to him, language is not just a means of communication but a carrier of discipline, culture, and moral values. When people abandon their mother tongues, they also risk abandoning the principles and identity that come with them.
He argued that even animals obey natural laws and boundaries, yet some humans deliberately reject their roots and cultural norms in the name of modernity. This, he said, has created a society where speaking fluent English is often mistaken for intelligence, while those who express themselves in local languages are unfairly looked down upon.
Rev. Vincent Kankam echoed the broader concern, stressing that progress should not come at the cost of self-denial. Embracing other languages can be useful, but rejecting one’s own language and culture entirely weakens national identity and social cohesion.
