Operation against multiple transport fares is not a nine-day wonder, it will be 9 months continuously – National security assures after arresting 16 drivers in Kumasi

National security authorities have stressed that their ongoing operation against the illegal practice of charging multiple transport fares will not be a short-lived exercise.
According to officials, the initiative is not a “nine-day wonder” but a sustained enforcement campaign expected to run continuously for nine months.
The operation is aimed at curbing fare exploitation by some commercial drivers, particularly on busy routes, where passengers are allegedly forced to pay multiple fares for a single journey. National security officials say the extended duration of the exercise is intended to ensure compliance, deter offenders, and restore public confidence in the transport system.
As part of the enforcement efforts, 16 drivers were arrested in Kumasi on Monday for allegedly engaging in the practice.
Authorities have indicated that similar operations will be carried out across the country, warning drivers and transport operators that violations will attract strict sanctions as the crackdown continues.
