NPP’s Flagbearership Race: Leadership & decision making is not about shouting – Hon Asenso Boakye backs Bawumia to win Saturday’s primaries

Former minister for Works and Housing, Hon. Francis Asenso Boakye, has thrown his support behind former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearership race, stressing that true leadership is rooted in sound decision-making, not loud rhetoric.

Speaking on Kessben FM with Wofa Kofi Appiah, Asenso Boakye noted that leadership should be measured by clarity of thought, competence, and the ability to make informed decisions for the greater good. He argued that shouting or grandstanding does not translate into effective governance.

To reinforce his point, Asenso Boakye referenced the late former UN Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, whom he described as a calm but decisive leader whose quiet demeanor never undermined his global impact. According to him, Kofi Annan’s leadership style exemplifies the kind of thoughtful and strategic approach needed in high office.

In this context, Asenso Boakye said Dr. Bawumia best fits the bill, citing his composure, intellectual depth, and record in government. He expressed confidence that these qualities position Bawumia not only to win the NPP flagbearership race but also to lead effectively.
