We Want to See a Ghana Resetting Through Metro Mass” – Vice President

Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has challenged Metro Mass Transit Limited (MMTL) to play a leading role in Ghana’s public transport transformation, describing the company as central to the government’s national reset agenda.
Speaking during a working visit to the state-owned transport company, the Vice President called for improved efficiency, accountability, and maintenance of public assets to strengthen public confidence in Metro Mass services.
“We want to see a Ghana resetting through Metro Mass,” Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said, urging management and staff to build on current efforts and deliver better outcomes.
She acknowledged the contributions of government officials, the company’s management, and staff, noting that their collective work directly affects communities across the country.
“I know the ministers are playing their roles, management is playing its role, and so are all of you, especially the communities that depend on our work,” she stated.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang reaffirmed government’s readiness to support Metro Mass through retooling and the supply of additional buses to enhance service delivery nationwide.
“Government is willing to play its role to retool Metro Mass and supply even more buses,” she said.
The Vice President also stressed the importance of protecting state assets, reminding staff that government property belongs to all citizens.
“Even though ten years is a long time, we live in a country where vehicles older than that are still functioning. That means we must take good care of government property, because it belongs to all of us,” she added.
She assured workers and management that their concerns had been heard and described them as valid, encouraging them to remain committed to service excellence.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang concluded her visit by commending staff for their dedication and urging them to do more to help reposition Metro Mass as a reliable and efficient public transport provider in Ghana.
