NPP Sweden Branch Chairman Disagrees with Petition Challenging PEC’s Proxy Voting Directive

The Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Sweden Branch, Mr. Richard Oti-Aboagye, has expressed disagreement with a petition challenging the Presidential Elections Committee’s (PEC) directive on proxy voting.
In a letter to the NPP National Executive Committee, Mr. Oti-Aboagye argued that the petition misrepresents the consensus of external branches and is procedurally misleading and constitutionally unsound.
He stated that the PEC has the mandate to formulate rules and guidelines for the presidential primary and that the “no proxy voting” directive is aimed at ensuring electoral integrity.
Mr. Oti-Aboagye urged the National Executive Committee to affirm the PEC’s authority, encourage dialogue, and reiterate the party’s commitment to transparency, discipline, and unity.
The petition in question was submitted by some members of the party’s external branches, challenging the PEC’s decision to prohibit proxy voting in the presidential primary.
The NPP is preparing for its presidential primary, and the PEC has been working to ensure a credible and transparent election process.
