President Mahama Joins Global Leaders in Beijing for Women’s Empowerment Summit

President John Dramani Mahama and First Lady Lordina Mahama have arrived in Beijing to participate in a landmark Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women, hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping and UN Women on October 13-14.
The high-profile gathering brings together world leaders to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women and renew commitment to the transformative 1995 Beijing Declaration, which established a global framework for gender equality and women’s empowerment.
Dual Focus: Women’s Rights and Economic Partnership:
While championing women’s empowerment on the global stage, President Mahama’s delegation will simultaneously pursue strategic objectives to strengthen Ghana-China relations and attract investment opportunities for the West African nation.

High-Level Diplomatic Engagements:
President Mahama’s itinerary includes crucial bilateral meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang, focusing on enhancing the long-standing partnership between the two nations.
A Presidential Investment Forum will serve as the centerpiece of economic diplomacy, bringing together Ghanaian businesses, Chinese counterparts, and investors to explore opportunities in Ghana’s growing economy.

The President is accompanied by a high-powered delegation including:
– Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare

Historic Context:
This year marks both the 80th anniversary of the United Nations and the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Conference on Women, making the gathering particularly significant for global gender equality advocacy.
The meetings are expected to produce renewed commitments to accelerating implementation of women’s empowerment initiatives worldwide while strengthening bilateral cooperation between participating nations.
President Mahama’s participation underscores Ghana’s continued leadership role in both continental and global affairs, particularly in advancing women’s rights and sustainable economic development.
