Adansi Helicopter Crash: Mahama commended all of Sikaman and Broferedu townships, not just the 13 rescuers – Hon. Joseph Azumah

Following the tragic Adani helicopter crash that rocked the Sikaman-Broferedu area, Member of Parliament for the Adani Constituency, Hon. Joseph Azumah, the MP for Adansi Akrofuom has clarified the intent behind President John Dramani Mahama’s recent visit to Adani Akrofuom, where the crash occurred.
Speaking in an interview on Kessben FM’s morning show, Hon. Azumah dismissed claims that Mahama’s visit was limited to recognizing only the 13 brave individuals who retrieved the charred remains of the victims from the crash site. Instead, he emphasized that the visit was meant to honor the entire township of Sikaman and Broferedu for their collective resilience, unity, and swift response during the disaster.
“Let us set the record straight,” Hon. Azumah stated firmly. “President Mahama did not just wanted to say thank you to the 13 heroes, though their bravery was remarkable, but to commend the whole community. From those who fetched water, to those who cleared the bush, offered shelter, cooked food, and stood firm through the chaos… his appreciation was for all of Sikaman and Broferedu.”
Though rescue efforts were hampered by the fire and thick smoke, 13 young men from the community risked their lives to pull out the badly burnt bodies and prevent further devastation.
He further praised the communal spirit exhibited during the crisis, noting that traditional leaders, youth groups, women, and even schoolchildren played critical roles in ensuring safety and order in the aftermath of the crash.
The helicopter crash remains under investigation by the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, with early reports pointing to a possible engine failure mid-flight. Meanwhile, funeral arrangements for the victims are underway, with support pouring in from across the nation.
