The sickness which befell Kofi Jumah, If it were Asiedu Nketiah, he would have long been buried – NPP’s Kwabena Yandoh

The Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Yandoh, has hit hard at the NDC government following the arrest of former GIHOC Distilleries CEO, Maxwell Kofi Dwumah, by national security operatives.

Yandoh, visibly upset by what he termed the “ongoing witch-hunting of NPP officials” by the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, launched a fiery defense of Dwumah while condemning the manner in which he was arrested.

“What has happened to Kofi Dwumah is not just political victimization, it is cruel,” Yandoh said. “The kind of sickness that struck him in recent years, if it were Asiedu Nketiah, he would been buried by now.

Maxwell Kofi Dwumah, a key figure during the previous NPP administration, was reportedly detained over alleged financial infractions during his leadership at GIHOC Distilleries. His detention, according to reports, took a toll on his health, prompting strong reactions from members of the NPP.

Yandoh insisted that the arrest was not driven by justice, but by political vendetta. “This is not about fighting corruption. It’s a deliberate agenda to silence and humiliate former NPP appointees. The way national security handled this case,  it’s as if Kofi Jumah was a criminal or a flight risk. They are trying to break him down physically and mentally.”

The reference to NDC Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah drew particular attention. While some criticized Yandoh’s remarks as inflammatory and uncalled for, they are seen as emphasizing the emotional and physical trauma political opponents are enduring under the current administration.

Kwabena Yandoh has stood by his words, maintaining that the treatment of Kofi Jumah sets a worrying precedent for how political transitions are being weaponized.
