Legon Lecturers & Professionals for NPP Demand Action: Petition Against Bono Regional Chairman’s Insults On Kennedy Agyapong

A group of NPP activists, led by Alhassan Sulemana Anamzoya, Chairman of Legon Lecturers and Professionals, presented a petition to the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Thursday, expressing their deep concern over the recent attacks and insults directed at their candidate, Honorable Kennedy Ohene Agyapong
The petition, which has been received by the party, urges the national leadership to call the Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe Abronye to order for his alleged lambasting, ridicule, and insults towards Kennedy Agyapong. The activists argue that the party’s silence on the matter has been disturbing and that it’s essential for the leadership to address the issue to maintain unity and peace within the party.
“We are not fighting necessarily for Ken,” Anamzoya explained. “We are fighting for unity in the party, fighting for peace in the party. The way the party is quiet, and the national leadership is quiet, is disturbing. We need to call Chairman Kwame Baffoe Abronye to order for the sake of the party’s peace.”
The petition emphasizes that the party’s silence on the matter may embolden others to attack other candidates, which could lead to a breakdown in party cohesion. The activists are seeking a response from the party, urging them to take action to address the situation.
“We want to hear from the party,” Anamzoya said. “We’ve not given them a deadline, but we are optimistic that they will look at the petition carefully. We’ve copied the Chairman of the Committee and the Council of Elders, and we believe in their wisdom that they will be able to call him to order.”
The petition also urges Chairman Kwame Baffoe Abronye to stay calm and refrain from further attacks and insults. Anamzoya questioned whether responding to harsh words with more harsh words was the best approach, emphasizing that the party’s unity and peace should be the top priority.
The NPP activists hope that the party’s leadership will take their concerns seriously and address the issue promptly. As the party navigates the complexities of internal conflicts, the activists are eager to see a resolution that will promote unity and cohesion within the party.
