Kessben Sports pundit and historian, Bright Yeboah Taylor has drawn attention to an interesting trend ahead of the highly anticipated Democracy Cup clash between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak.
Speaking on Kessben Sports, Taylor revealed that cup final matches involving the two Ghanaian giants have been played on Fridays on four occasions, with Hearts of Oak failing to win any of those encounters. According to him, Kotoko have emerged victorious in all the Friday cup games.
“A cup final game being played on Friday has been seen four times. Hearts have never won; Kotoko have won all the cup games played on Friday,” Taylor said.
The latest Friday showdown is scheduled for August 28, 2026, when Kotoko face Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Stadium in the Democracy Cup. Taylor’s observation has added another layer of intrigue to the historic rivalry as both sides prepare for the much-anticipated encounter.
