We will launch a national venture capital fund to support businesses – Mahama pledges

In the government’s quest to support businesses, president John Dramani Mahama has pledged to establish a national venture capital fund.
It aims at boosting entrepreneurship and promote private sector growth.
This initiative targets youth and women-led businesses in Ghana, providing them with support. Additionally, regulatory reforms will be implemented to incentivize financial institutions to lend to key economic sectors.
Addressing the media at the 2nd edition of Kwahu Business Forum held in Mpraeso in the Eastern Region, he said the NDC government will collaborate with banks, and mobile money operators to increase access to financial services, emphasizing on rural and underserved communities.
“We also will launch a national venture capital fund to support youth and women- led businesses and introduce regulatory reforms that encourages banks and financial institutions to lend to the productive sectors of the economy. And in all this, financial inclusion will be at the heart of this agenda.
“Low economic and growth if its people remain excluded from the formal financial systems. We will work with banks, and mobile money operators to expand access to financial services particularly in rural and underserved communities” he remarked.
As part of the 24 -hour economy strategy, his administration will further provide reliable electricity supply, logistics and public safety for businesses to operate, boosting productivity and job creation.
