The Shatta Wale-Stonebwoy beef is unnecessary – Veteran Radio Presenter, Candy Man, says

Veteran radio presenter and media personality, Candy Man, has expressed his disapproval of the ongoing rivalry between two of Ghana’s most prominent reggae-dancehall artists, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy.

According to Candy Man, the public feud between the two stars is both unnecessary and detrimental to the Ghanaian music industry. He went on to emphasize that there is no sense in maintaining beefs in the entertainment industry, particularly among top musicians.

The longstanding feud between Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy has been one of the most talked-about rivalries in Ghanaian music. Over the years, both artists have exchanged verbal insults, staged public confrontations, and even gotten into physical altercations, the most notable being the violent incident at the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), which led to both stars being temporarily banned from the event.

However, Candy Man, who has been a mainstay in the Ghanaian media landscape for many years, believes that such feuds do not benefit anyone, least of all the fans and the artists involved. In a recent interview, Candy Man shared his views on the issue, stating, “The Shatta Wale-Stonebwoy beef is unnecessary. There’s no sense in beefs. The music industry should be about unity, collaboration, and mutual respect.”

He went on to add that both Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy are immensely talented artists with a lot of potential to positively influence the music scene in Ghana and beyond. “Both of them have achieved so much in their careers and have made remarkable contributions to the growth of dancehall music in Ghana. They don’t need to be at odds with each other for the sake of their fans or their careers,” he said.

Speaking on Kessben TV’s Music Plus Show with Mr Bonz, Candy Man further explained that the constant back-and-forth between Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, as well as other artists engaging in similar beefs, only serves to create division within the music industry. He pointed out that such conflicts have a negative impact not only on the image of the artists but also on the industry at large.

In the world of music, collaborations often bring about creative synergy and can introduce artists to new audiences. Candy Man believes that, by putting aside their differences, both Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy can further elevate the status of dancehall music in Ghana and gain more international recognition.

As much as fans might take pride in supporting their favorite artist, Candy Man emphasized that the power to influence artists in a positive way rests with the very people who follow them. Rather than encouraging negativity, fans can play an instrumental role in helping to heal rifts and promote harmony within the music industry.
