Greater Accra Police Clamp Down on illegal Sirens, Intercept Over 1,000 Vehicles
The Ghana Police Service has intercepted 1,054 vehicles in the Greater Accra Region as part of an ongoing nationwide crackdown on the illegal use of sirens, beacon lights, strobe lights, unauthorised horns and unlawful vehicle modifications.
The enforcement exercise, which began on June 15, 2026, is aimed at improving road discipline and ensuring compliance with the Road Traffic Regulations.
In an update shared on Tuesday, July 21, the Police Service said drivers found violating the regulations were educated on the relevant laws, while illegal devices and unauthorised vehicle modifications were removed and seized.
The Police added that the nationwide operation has so far led to the interception of 4,627 vehicles across the country.
According to the Service, the exercise will continue as officers intensify efforts to address traffic violations and promote responsible driving practices on Ghana’s roads.
The Police urged motorists to comply with road safety regulations and avoid using unauthorised equipment that could endanger other road users.
