300,323 males and 300,391 females from 18,993 schools start BECE today
A total of over 600,000 students will start the week-long Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) on August 7, 2023.
These pupils, who come from 18,993 schools nationwide, are made up of 300,323 men and 300,391 women.
The group of candidates for this year’s examinations constitutes the final cohort taking the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), a program that has been in effect for more than three decades.
An innovative test will be given to the first class of junior high school students in 2024 in accordance with the updated curriculum that was established in 2019.
The junior high school exit test, which will be connected with the new Standard-based curriculum, will be given to pupils in 2024.
As a result, a new BECE will debut in 2024, and student evaluation will undergo a radical change.
The Coalition of Concerned Teachers, however, is calling for clear instructions on the upcoming exam based on the Standard-based curriculum.
The Coalition of Concerned Teachers’ Director of Communications, Adokwei Ayikwie Awule, stated, “We need a clear roadmap for the Standard-based curriculum examination.”
The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) urged applicants for the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination to abstain from cheating or any other wrongdoing that would jeopardize their goals and aspirations in a statement dated August 3.
