“I didn’t listen to dream killers”- Seth Gyimah’ from a construction worker in Ghana to a world champion

This is the remarkable story of Jackson Freezy Macbones, a former Ghanaian menial worker who rose through the ranks to become a professional boxer.

Freezy Macbones, born Seth Gyimah, fled Ghana for the United Kingdom in search of brighter pastures.

He claimed that when he was in Ghana, he lived in abject poverty, struggling every day to make ends meet. He was doing “kponkpon” to make ends meet. Kponkpon is a menial labor done by unskilled workers for a daily wage.

On Saturday, April 15, Freezy MacBones, as he is widely known, faced veteran Darryl Sharp at London’s Copper Box Arena.

The fight was MacBones’ second professional fight after turning pro at the age of 33.

However, the light-heavyweight boxer wowed the judges and won.

Sharing his throwback picture, Freezy Macbones said: Life is so funny I still remember when I came to London for the first time .. I was stranded, couldn’t speak good English. A whole lot happened and I ended up sleeping outside. Now am on live.
