NPP ‘Lacks Leadership’ in Ashanti—NDC Could Hit 40% in 2028, Ziega Predicts

A political analyst with Kessben TV, Nana Frimpong Ziega, has stirred debate with a bold projection that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) could secure up to 40% of votes in the Ashanti Region in the 2028 general elections.

Ziega admitted he initially doubted claims by Chief Executive Officer, Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi “Zuba” that the NDC could reach such numbers in the region, traditionally considered a stronghold of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

However, he says recent developments have forced a rethink.

“Looking at what the regional minister, Dr. Amoakohene is doing for the region, coupled with what the NPP is doing against itself, I now believe that projection is possible,” he noted.

According to him, while organizations typically evolve and improve their operations over time, the NPP in Ashanti appears to be moving in the opposite direction. He described the situation bluntly: “The NPP in the Ashanti Region has no leadership.”

Ziega further argued that internal challenges within the party could create an opening for the NDC to make significant electoral gains if not urgently addressed.

He added that outcomes of internal party contests could also influence the political dynamics. “If Chairman Kokofu wins in the Ashanti Region, the NDC would get 40%,” he asserted.

The comments are likely to intensify political discussions as parties begin early positioning ahead of the 2028 polls, particularly in the vote-rich Ashanti Region, where shifts in voter sentiment could prove decisive.
