DNA Can Be Determined Even Before Birth-Dr. Seth Agyemang

Story: Maurice Otoo

Dr. Seth Agyemang, an academic at MLSD and PhD holder, has underscored the importance of DNA testing in establishing biological relationships, stressing that both a man and a woman contribute genetic material that determines the DNA makeup of a child — even before birth.

Speaking on the relevance of DNA in modern society via zoom meeting on Kessben TV’s Digest show, Dr. Agyemang explained that whenever a man and a woman engage in sexual intercourse leading to conception, each parent contributes unique DNA that forms the identity of the unborn baby.

According to him, every woman ordinarily knows the father of her child, but in situations where she has had multiple sexual partners, DNA testing becomes the most reliable scientific method to establish paternity.

He noted that advances in medical science now make it possible for DNA testing to be conducted even during pregnancy, allowing paternity to be determined before the child is born.

Dr. Agyemang further revealed that DNA samples can be extracted from a wide range of biological materials, including sweat, saliva, blood, nails, hair, and even personal clothing, making the process highly accessible and accurate.

He emphasized that DNA testing remains one of the most dependable tools in resolving paternity disputes, criminal investigations, and family-related legal matters.

His remarks add to growing public discussions around the role of DNA technology in ensuring truth, accountability, and justice in personal and legal relationships.
