Those who were asked to renovate our stadiums in the last 5 years must be probed – Andy Kerm

Popular sports analyst Andy Kerm has called for a thorough investigation into all individuals and entities tasked with renovating Ghana’s sports stadiums over the past five years.

Speaking on Kessben FM’s flagship sports program, Kerm questioned the quality and transparency of recent renovation projects, some of which have drawn criticism for being substandard or incomplete.

“All those who were asked to renovate our stadia in the last five years must be probed,” Andy Kerm stated firmly. “Too much money has gone into these projects, yet the results we see do not reflect that investment.”

His comments come amid growing public concern about the poor state of several national and regional sports facilities, including the Accra Sports Stadium, Baba Yara Sports Stadium, and the Sekondi Sports Stadium. Despite multiple renovation announcements and budget allocations, many of these venues continue to suffer from poor seating, inadequate drainage systems, faulty lighting, and general neglect.

Andy Kerm questioned whether due process was followed in awarding the renovation contracts and raised concerns about possible corruption and mismanagement.

“Taxpayers deserve answers. Why are we still playing on poor pitches with broken facilities after all these years of supposed renovations?”

The call for accountability adds to mounting pressure on authorities to prioritize not just investment in sports facilities, but also oversight and delivery. With Ghana continuing to bid for international tournaments and host regional competitions, the quality of infrastructure remains a key concern.
