McDan, an excellent entrepreneur, businessmen must emulate to boost growth and development.
As part of the drive to challenge Ghanaian businessmen to enter into the entrepreneur space to leverage the private sector, Mr. Daniel McKorley known in business circles as McDan has broken another frontier leading to the commissioning of the Electrochem Salt Mine in Sege in the Ada West district.
It is for these reasons that Ghanaian entrepreneurs must take advantage and unlock the trade and business potentials in the country to accelerate socio-economic growth and development.
The commissioning of the mine which has the ability to produce close to six hundred and fifty thousand metric tons (650,000MT) of salt per annum have thrown a challenge on trade and business for Ghanaians to explore and tap into other areas of the economy to propel the country towards smart economic growth and development.
The salt mine is expected to increase its productive capacity to one million metric tons in 2024 to make it the biggest salt producing facility in Africa.
The Asians tigers have made giant strides in their entrepreneurship drive which have systematically moved to first world economy thus entrepreneurs in the country must engage themselves to the task with the firm conviction that it is possible to roll out ground breaking production and manufacturing ventures across the country.
I strongly believe and it’s my fervent hope that McDan be given the needed state support and resources to export the WHITE GOLD (salt) to enable it become the number one earner of foreign exchange to the country as the mineral is highly demanded across the industrialized world.
It would be recalled that, the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo on Wednesday, 30th August, 2023 commissioned the Electrochem Salt Mine in Sege in the Ada West district and made a found statement to the effect that “for fifty-four (54) years, successive Governments have tried without success to harness the full salt potential of the Songhor Lagoon, as McDan has broken the odds to bring to bear the full salt production for the benefit of residents of Ada and the citizens of entire nation.
Reports have revealed that the Federal Republic of Nigeria was in the process of importing a whopping sum of two billion dollars ($2 billion) worth of salt from Brazil for commercial and production purposes as this piece must serve as a wakeup call for government and business community of the job opportunities in the salt value chain and the impact the said money on the economy if the country, and the populace rally behind McDan to enable him and firmly push Electrochem to a new level to a new level of branding the company and also create business linkages among global players in the Salt industry.
Electrochem is working assiduously to unfold its golden dream of setting up a salt refinery in the country as well as exporting refined salt products to the global market interestingly as Accra serves as the headquarters of the secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area (ACFTA) since government is of the firm conviction that the expected revenues of some one billion dollars ($1 billion) to the company will be surpassed.
Mr. Daniel McKorley, an indigene of Ada has truly put a smile on the faces of the chiefs and people of Ada of their quest in ensuring that the traditional area becomes international trade and business hub of white gold (salt) in the West Africa sub-region and the world at large.
