N’Golo Kante returns on the pitch in four months’ time
Chelsea have confirmed N’Golo Kante has undergone surgery to treat a hamstring injury and will be sidelined for four months.
The Frenchman has endured an injury-hit start to the 2022/23 campaign and hasn’t featured since Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham just two games into the Premier League season.
After weeks of speculation with Kante suffering setbacks in his attempts to comeback from injury and feature under new manager Graham Potter, Chelsea confirmed via a statement on their website that he had undergone surgery.
“N’Golo Kante has undergone an operation on his hamstring injury.
“The midfielder visited a specialist with the club’s medical department to explore the options for his rehabilitation approach and it was mutually agreed for N’Golo to have surgery to repair the damage.
“Following a successful operation, N’Golo is now expected to be sidelined for four months.”
A four-month injury layoff confirms previous doubts over whether or not the 31-year-old would be able to recover in time for the 2022 World Cup, instead ruling him out for the rest of the year and the first few months of 2023.
