Premier League goalkeepers – 2022/23 power rankings

As is always the case, the players scoring the goals have been the talk of the town this season, but some of those standing between the sticks trying to stop them haven’t been half bad either.

While David de Gea has had his lapses, and Ederson hasn’t exactly impressed at Manchester City, plenty of goalkeepers have.

10 rounds in, here’s how we’re ranking the goalkeepers.

10. Neto (re-entry)

Bournemouth’s keeper reclaims his place in the top 10 after an impressive display against Leicester, in which he made four good saves to help his team win.

9. Robert Sanchez (down 1)

Robert Sanchez hasn’t been at his best in recent weeks, but remains one of the best in the league.

8. David Raya (down 3)

David Raya is really, really good, but the Brentford keeper didn’t show it against Newcastle, letting in five and making a huge mistake for one of them.

7. Hugo Lloris (up 2)

After a dreadful performance in the north London derby, Hugo Lloris looked much better again against Brighton, playing a big part in his team’s victory with his work between the posts.

6. Bernd Leno (up 1)

Bernd Leno’s performances against his former club, Arsenal, and against Spurs alone earn him a place in this list, but he’s been very good since then too.

5. Jose Sa (up 1)

Jose Sa continues to prove to be one of the best signings Wolves have made in recent years.

He’s made some top saves when called upon, hasn’t made any big errors, and his distribution has been good too.

It’s a pity Wolves, well, aren’t.

4. Aaron Ramsdale (-)

Aaron Ramsdale hasn’t been as spectacular as he was last season, but that’s largely because, with Arsenal making a flying start to the season, he’s had a lot less to do.

When called upon though he’s remained a save pair of hands, which is more than can be said for some at other top clubs.

3. Alisson Becker (-)

Liverpool haven’t looked very good for much of this season, but their goalkeeper has.

Alisson has saved the skin of his somewhat dodgy defence a number of times, most notably in the Merseyside derby.

He shipped three against Arsenal, but couldn’t do much about any of them.

2. Jordan Pickford (-)

Jordan Pickford is one of England’s most in-form players heading into the World Cup.

The highlight was his performance against Liverpool, in which he made eight saves, but he’s played well pretty much every week.

1. Nick Pope (-)

If not for a certain Norwegian striker in Manchester, you could make a strong argument for Nick Pope being the signing of the season.

He’s been simply brilliant for Newcastle, single-handedly earning them two points with his stunning displays against Brighton and Crystal Palace.

In fact, there’s yet to be a match that he’s played in Newcastle colours in which he hasn’t looked good.
