‘If you can’t help us don’t compound our problems with & double & high taxes’ – Kumasi traders set massive demonstrate against Gov’t

In the last two days, businessmen and women in Adum Kumasi have refused to open their stores to protest against high taxes and what they also describe as double taxation by the government on their trade.

Amid the high exchange rate, interest rate and other factors affecting their businesses, the headache of high taxes by the Government has been collapsing their businesses.

According to them, in the last three weeks, the Ghana Revenue Authorities have stationed their personnel at their various stores.

The CEO of Ultimate Fashion, Mr William Addo speaking on Kessben TV bemoaned about the situation which he describes as double taxation.

Amid the depreciation value of the Ghana cedi to the dollar, Mr William Addo stressed that if the Government can not help them, they should not compound their problems.

He revealed that on Thursday 13th October 2022, the traders in Kumasi will be embarking on a huge demonstration over the high taxes by the Government.

“If you can’t help us don’t compound our problems. We’re hitting the streets on Thursday for a massive demonstration” He said.
