AfCFTA: Webinar Series Virtual Workshop Held To Explore New Business Opportunities

As part of strengthening and promoting trade and investment in Ghana, the Ghana’s Embassy in Brussels on Wednesday September 15 held second episode of a series of virtual workshop themed ” Doing Business in Ghana Series 2021.

The workshop organized by the Ghana Embassy in collaboration with the Ghana Council in Belgium aimed at exploring new business opportunities under the African Continental Free Trade Area to enable prospective investors to take advantage of the largest free trade area in the world.

H.E. Sena Siaw Boateng led business oriented personalities from Belgium and Ghana on the virtual workshop to educate Ghanaian exporters on how to effectively access the EU market with their goods and services by adhering to laid down procedure and regulations.

In her remarks she noted that the AfCFTA is a timely opportunity to deepen intra-Africa trade, diversify African exports, increase income and generate wealth for the African people and beyond.

she said in a post COVID world, the AfCFTA is more important now than ever as trends have shown that a self-reliant and robust economy is imperative in the economic recovery process.

She Added that the coming into force and successful implementation of the AfCFTA ties in perfectly with the vision of moving Ghana to a situation beyond aid – a self-reliant country that has freed herself from a mind-set of dependence, aid, charity and handouts, and is determined to make judicious, disciplined use of her considerable resources as the basis for her growth and prosperity.

H.E. Sena Siaw Boateng indicated that, the realisation of this vision will be greatly facilitated by leveraging the trade and investment opportunities by presented by the AfCFTA.

She was confident that Ghana as host of the AfCFTA Secretariat, seeks to lead by example in creating an economic environment conducive for investment since the workshop took participants through the emerging opportunities in Ghana under the AfCFTA and the peculiar incentives available for prospective investors who choose to invest in the country.

Madam Sena Siaw Boateng stated that he potential of the AfCFTA to uncover new areas of investments suggests that it will attract a more diverse range of investors comprising multinationals, individuals, start-ups, joint ventures among others thus making the continental market highly competitive.
