Edem, who burst on the music scene with his debut single, Nyornuviada, has grown over the years to become one of the favourite rappers. His yet to be launched 25-track album is evidence of his growth in the game.
Currently, he is basking in a lot of popularity for his song, Koene, and he has assured music lovers of a “great album for the Christmas festivities”.
Some of the songs on the album are Best Rapper which features Black Prophet, Only In Ghana, The One featuring UK based Ghanaian artiste, Sway, Koowa Da Koowa, Zero to Hero and Wicked and Bad which features hiplife group, 4X4.
Also, the album rendered in Afro pop, dancehall and hiphop features Samini and some of Africa’s renowned artistes such as Ice Prince, M.I, Cssper and Nyovest.
He told Showbiz in a chat last Thursday that the album has been “cooked for the African market”.
“Every budding artiste should look beyond what is popular in his home country. You should produce works that will equally make waves in other countries, I mean a wider market. And that’s the reason why I featured some of the popular artistes on the continent,” he stated.
He told Showbiz the title of the album was to show the world the relevance and impact of education.
“Books are what take us through life by the knowledge we gain from them. When we gain knowledge, we become powerful in any place we find ourselves,” he said.
He said that from the knowledge gained from studying, he was able to “sell ” his mother tongue, the Ewe language, and not bow to pressure to toe the path everyone was going.
Real name, Edem Hotor, Edem released his maiden album, Volta Regime, in 2009, and followed it up with Mass Production in 2011.
