British expat dies in Takoradi hotel
An expatriate working with the Aboadze Thermal Plant of the Volta River Authority in the Western Region has died under unexplained circumstances.
The deceased, Anthony Brockle Bank, 36, was found lying dead in his room by hotel staff at Atlantic Hotel, Takoradi, at around 11:15am on Wednesday.
The deceased was among a group of expatriates contracted to work on some of the plants being put up by the power generation company.
His body is at the morgue of Eternity Funeral Home at Funko, near Takoradi.
Confirming the tragedy, ASP Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, Western Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), revealed that the deceased belonged to a company called Wood Group Ethos Energy in Britain.
She explained that the deceased was found on Wednesday by hotel workers who were conducting routine housekeeping. When they got to the door of Anthony’s room, they knocked several times but got no response.
The hotel attendants then went for a spare key to open the door. The police officer said when the door was opened, the expatriate was found naked with his head on a table.
Hotel officials called for a doctor who, upon examining the body, pronounced that the man had died about four hours previously.
