President John Dramani Mahama has raised concerns over the quality of refereeing in Ghanaian football, urging the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to take a closer look at the issue.

According to President Mahama, concerns about officiating have become so widespread that some football matches appear to be decided before they are even played.

“The matches are played before they are played,” the President remarked, highlighting the growing perception among football stakeholders that poor officiating could undermine the credibility of competitions.

He called on the GFA to examine the challenges confronting refereeing and take steps to restore confidence in match officials.

President Mahama stressed the importance of fair and credible officiating to the development of Ghana football, noting that supporters, clubs and players must have confidence that matches are being conducted transparently.
