President John Mahama has described his victory in the December 2012 elections as one ordained by the God.
“What they didn’t understand is that it is God who bestows leadership” he declared.
According to him, during his four month campaign, he pledged not win the presidency by his might but by the grace of God.
Speaking at the 20th anniversary of the Mount Horeb Prayer Centre at Mamfe in the Eastern Region on Sunday, the President recalled that in the picture where he was pointing towards the sky, “it was a very powerful message to my opponents.”
He added that although “they [opponents] did not understand and still cannot understand, why a person would use 40 days to win an election in a country, he who is above does wonderful things and he does what pleases him.”
The validity of the December elections is currently been challenged by three leading members of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) who claim the results were rigged in favour of Mr. Mahama.
