NPP needs to raise Nana Addo profile after IEA debate – Stan Dogbe
Member of the government’s communication team, Stanislav Xose Dogbe, has said that due to the woeful performance of the New Patriotic Party’s, Nana Akufo-Addo at the Institute of Economic Affairs’ (IEA) presidential debate, the party will need to work hard to correct his dented profile.
Speaking on Citi FM‘s Eyewitness News, the Presidential aide said, “He [Nana Addo] performed arbitrarily particularly on the question of maternal mortality so they ought to raise the profile of their candidate which has been dented deeply by his performance yesterday”.
Mr. Dogbe further disclosed, “It is very interesting that a political party will assemble its high ranking members to judge and pronounce a verdict themselves. It is the expectation that the people of this country who are going to vote will be the one to determine which of the candidates answered the questions well”.
Mr. Dogbe also rubbished reports of frosty relations between Ghana and Ivory Coast over alleged plans by some dissidents of the latter to destabilise the government of Alassane Ouattara.
Nana Akufo-Addo at the IEA debate challenged the President to disclose the full details of the current bilateral relations between Ghana and Ivory Coast.
Nana Addo is quoted to have made reference to a report published by the United Nations Security Council and a fact finding mission that the Security Council had initiated about the position of Ivorian residents in Ghana.
According to Mr Dogbe however, “When they say that what the president said about Ivory Coast and his [Mahama’s] current engagement with Ivory Coast I ask; must there be no engagement with your neighbours?”
Mr. Dogbe added: “If there is a recent report that came out six weeks ago, must that be the basis for an opposition leader who has being a foreign minister to say that the country was habouring dissidents? That is the point Sammy Ablakwa made in the statement he issued from the Ministry of Information”.
