Mahama to debate Akufo-Addo on October 30

The Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) has announced Tuesday, October 30, 2012 as the day for the first 2012 Presidential Debate Series in Tamale.
The 2012 Presidential Debate will provide a common platform for the presidential candidates to answer questions on various aspects of the nation’s development process. The debates will take the form of a policy dialogue engagement at which the candidates will state their viewpoints, plans and programmes, and also to point out weaknesses in the policies of their co-contestants and present alternatives to those policies and programmes.
The debate will, however, create a platform for electorates to receive first hand information on the programmes and plans of each candidate and also enable the electorate make an informed choice on Election Day.
The evening’s debate will see the President of the Republic of Ghana and flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Mahama argue issues out with flagbearer of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Dr. Michael Abu Sakara Forster, Mr. Hassan Ayariga of the People’s National Convention (PNC) and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The First Presidential Debate will be based on questions received from the following thematic areas – Economy, Social Sector, Private Sector Development/Industrialisation and Foreign Policy.
Questions will be based on those received from the general public and from various interest groups.
