High Hostel Fees: Akuoko Frimpong urges Universities to open up lands for developers to build more facilities

Former Sekyere Central District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Akuoko Frimpong, has called on universities in Ghana to make available information about their lands to encourage private developers to build more hostels and reduce accommodation costs for students.
Speaking on Kessben FM, he argued that universities with available land should inform the public to enable interested individuals and investors to collaborate with them in constructing additional student accommodation facilities.
According to him, increasing the supply of hostels around university campuses could help ease the pressure on existing facilities and bring down the high cost of hostel fees in the country.
Hon. Akuoko Frimpong’s comments come amid concerns over the rising cost of student accommodation in Ghana, which continues to place a financial burden on students and their families.
