Some teachers & heads even sleep with students in basic schools, & they settle the cases with sewing machines – Lecturer reveals
University lecturer Barnabas Addai Amanfo has alleged that sexual abuse involving teachers and students occurs even in basic schools, with some teachers reportedly giving sewing machines to victims to settle cases when pregnancies occur.
Speaking on Kessben FM, the University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (USTED) lecturer made the remarks amid discussions surrounding allegations of sexual misconduct involving the headmaster of Obuasi Senior High and Technical School (SHTS).
According to him, such incidents are not limited to senior high schools, as similar cases allegedly occur at the basic school level.
He further claimed that some teachers resort to providing sewing machines to students who become pregnant as a way of resolving the matter rather than allowing the cases to be properly addressed.
The allegations underscore the importance of safeguarding students and establishing effective reporting mechanisms to protect vulnerable children in schools.
