The Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, who also doubles as Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has commissioned several newly completed educational and community facilities across the constituency.
The projects, commissioned on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, include two 3-unit classroom blocks, a KG block, four playgrounds and a 12-seater toilet facility.
The projects are located in Lakpleku-Djinahor, Kpatcheremidor, Tsopoli, Ahwiam, Prampram, Afienya and Mataheko, and form part of efforts to improve educational infrastructure and create a more conducive environment for children.
Speaking to the News Alert Gh, shortly after the commissioning of the facilities, Sam George said the intervention was necessary to address challenges posed by old classroom blocks that had negatively affected education in the community.
“You realise that there’s an old block here that has been problematic and has always affected education in the community, but working with the DCE and under the RESET agenda of President Mahama, we’ve decided to turn it around and put up a new block for the community, the Lakleko community, because we believe that education is critical and essential.”
He said the new classroom block comes with teachers’ offices and has already been furnished with desks and chairs.
“There’s already furniture, desks and chairs in there, because you don’t build a classroom block and expect the kids to come and sit on stones. So we’ve put in chairs and tables as well.”
Mr George said the projects were intended not only to provide physical infrastructure but also to improve the overall learning environment for children in the constituency.
He specifically acknowledged the role of the traditional authorities, particularly the chief of Lakleko, Nene Lakleko, in supporting development efforts in the area.
“Our chief, Nene Lakleko, my very good friend, is here. He’s one of the pillars that has helped us hold the ground and hold the constituency for this long. And so we’re here to commission the school building, and I know that Nene needs people who take care of the building and make sure that it serves the purpose for which we’ve invested taxpayers’ money into,” Sam George said.
