NDC using their numbers & certificate of urgency to rush to pass laws without proper scrutiny – Kwabre East MP

The Member of Parliament for Kwabre East, Hon. Akwasi Gyamfi Onyina-Acheampong, has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of rushing the passage of new laws without giving Parliament enough time to properly scrutinise them.
Speaking on Kessben FM, the Kwabre East MP said the government has been relying heavily on Certificates of Urgency to fast-track the passage of several bills.
According to him, the approach does not allow lawmakers sufficient time to thoroughly examine the implications of proposed legislation and engage in detailed debate.
“The NDC is using its numbers to rush the passage of new laws without taking time to go through them properly. There are a lot of Certificate of Urgency bills,” he said.
Hon. Gyamfi Onyina-Acheampong suggested that legislation should be given adequate parliamentary scrutiny to ensure that laws passed serve the best interests of Ghanaians.
