Asante Kotoko was originally formed as Rainbow FC by Kwasi Kuma

According to Kessben Sports’ BYT, the club was initially established as Rainbow FC before being renamed Ashanti United, followed by Ashanti Titanics and then Mighty Atom.
The team eventually adopted the name Asante Kotoko on August 31, 1935, marking the beginning of the identity under which the club would go on to become one of Ghana’s most prominent football teams.
The early history and evolution of the Kumasi-based club, whose origins date back to the formative years of organised football in the Ashanti Region.
The revelation comes as Asante Kotoko marks the anniversary of the adoption of the club’s famous name, 91 years ago today.
