Methodist Presiding Bishop Urges Government to Honour Campaign Promises

The Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, Most Rev. Prof. J. Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, has urged government to fulfil its campaign promises to Ghanaians, saying citizens deserve to see action that matches the words spoken during elections.

He made the call on Wednesday at the opening of the 52nd Conference of the Methodist Church Ghana in Tema Community 1, under the Tema Diocese.

Speaking to the media, Most Rev. Prof. Asamoah-Gyadu said leaders at all levels must remain accountable to the people and ensure promises made during campaigns and in governance are honoured.“Government must fulfil the promises that they assured Ghanaians. The people deserve to see actions that match the words,” he said.

The conference which was held under the theme: “Walking in the Word: Equipped for Every Good Work” was derived from 2 Timothy 3:16. The Presiding Bishop also called on citizens and the Church to remain committed to their responsibilities and contribute meaningfully to national development. “As a Church, we are also called to be equipped for every good work. Let us fulfil the duties God has placed on us and work perfectly for His glory and for the development of our nation,” he added.

He urged Christians to walk in obedience to the Word of God and to execute their God-given responsibilities with excellence. The 52nd Conference brought together, members and leaders of the Methodist Church- Ghana, to deliberate on issues concerning the Church and its role in national development.
