Brussels Airlines Flight Returns to Accra After Technical Fault Shortly After Take-Off
A Brussels Airlines flight heading to Lomé was forced to return to Accra shortly after take-off on Monday evening following a technical fault.
The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) confirmed that Flight SN278 departed the Accra International Airport at 6:06 pm but developed a technical issue while airborne.
As a precautionary measure, the flight crew decided to return to Accra, where the aircraft landed safely at 6:18 pm, just 12 minutes after departure.
The GCAA commended the crew for following aviation safety procedures, assuring the public that the safety of passengers and crew remains the top priority.
According to the aviation regulator, Brussels Airlines has commenced investigations into the technical problem in line with standard aviation safety procedures under the supervision of the GCAA.
Following the incident, Brussels Airlines cancelled Flight SN278, with affected passengers receiving assistance from the airline in accordance with Ghana’s aviation consumer protection regulations.
The GCAA also reassured travellers that Ghana’s aviation safety and security oversight system remains strong despite the incident.
No injuries were recorded, and all passengers and crew members were reported safe.
