Government to Construct 900 New Schools to Boost Basic Education – Dr Clement Apaak

The government says it will construct 900 new basic schools across the country to improve access to education and reduce overcrowding in classrooms.
He said the initiative is part of efforts to expand infrastructure and improve teaching and learning conditions in basic schools nationwide.
Dr Apaak noted that many schools continue to face challenges such as overcrowding and inadequate facilities, particularly in fast-growing and underserved communities.
He added that the construction of the new schools will help address these gaps and promote equitable access to quality education.
Education stakeholders have welcomed the announcement but are calling for efficient implementation and fair distribution of the facilities across all regions.
Details on funding, location of the schools, and implementation timelines are expected to be announced by the Ministry of Education in the coming months.
The project forms part of the government’s broader agenda to strengthen basic education and improve learning outcomes across the country.
