The Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Naa Koryo Okunor, has strongly denied allegations of any romantic or sexual relationship with her constituency chairman, describing the claims as false and malicious.
Speaking to Kojo Preko Dankwa on Kessben Maakye show in Accra, the spokesperson to the lawmaker, Kojo Adande insisted the MP has never engaged in any intimate relationship with the chairman and has “never even kissed him, let alone engaged in any sexual affair.”
Kojo Adande alleged that the chairman had previously expressed romantic interest in the MP before she won the parliamentary primaries. He claimed that although Naa Koryo did not immediately reject the advances, she later turned them down after emerging victorious because she viewed the chairman only as a party executive and colleague.
The spokesperson further alleged that the chairman became disappointed following the rejection and subsequently developed hostility toward the MP.
The statement also claims that several senior party figures, including the party’s national chairman and presidential candidate at the time, John Dramani Mahama attempted to intervene and resolve the dispute between the two, but their efforts did not yield results.
According to the spokesperson, rumours about an alleged sexual relationship between the MP and the chairman had initially been circulated by some supporters of the chairman. He noted that the chairman had previously denied such claims, warning that any attempt to revive or spread the allegations would be met with a firm response.
He asserted that the current tape release of chairman Ofosu Agyare implicates him of being the brain behind the earlier gossip about the MP.
The latest development is expected to deepen discussions within the constituency as party members continue to monitor the unfolding controversy
