WAPHC 2026 Set to open Ghana as healthcare investment hub in West Africa

The 5th edition of the West Africa Pharma and Healthcare Expo 2026 has been held with the call to attract investment and promote value addition to pharmaceutical products and healthcare delivery in Ghana and the West Africa region.

The 3 day event commenced from 8th to 10th June, 2026 and was organized by Astrovision Global FZCO, Dubai and ACE Group under the auspices of the Ministry of Health with support from Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry and forms part of the drive to explore new technologies, discover innovative products, attracting investments, building strategic partnerships and promote healthcare delivery and pharmaceutical manufacturing in West Africa.

The event showcased, pharmaceutical products, hospital and healthcare products, herbal and Ayurveda, laboratory equipment, pharma ingredients and technology, medical and dental tourism materials, dental care among others with participants from manufacturers, exporters, wholesalers, pharmacists, healthcare professionals.

The rest are distributors, retailers, hospital administrators, laboratory specialists, medical equipment suppliers, pharmaceutical machinery manufactures and an array of stakeholders and decision makers from across the healthcare value chain.

Speaking during the opening ceremony in Accra, under the theme, “Advancing Healthcare: Connecting Africa,” Mr. Praveen Singh, the Executive Officer of ACE Group and Events Director said Ghana has emerged as one of the most dynamic healthcare and pharmaceutical market in West Africa as the health Sector continues to witness tremendous growth.

“The success story of the Expo has created the opportunity to expand the event to South Africa, Nigeria, Uganda, Malaysia, Philippines as well as Zimbabwe and Botswana,” he said, adding that the expansion creates the needed opportunities to build bridges between global healthcare suppliers and growing African markets.

According to him, the Expo will hosts more than 100 exhibitors from countries such as India, Turkey, USA, Egypt, Italy, and expected to attract 4,000 to 5,000 trade visitors from Ghana and across the West Africa region and used the occasion to encourage all participants to take advantage of the business opportunities at the event.

The Minister of Health, Mr. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh in a speech read on his behalf by the Chief Director, Alhaji Hafiz Adam said the Expo is a market place for networking and forming partnerships in the pharmaceutical space to enhance healthcare delivering, adding that Ghana is open to all aspect of healthcare trade and businesses to countries in the West Africa sub-region and worldwide.

He however urged players in the pharmaceutical industry to continue to engage the health ministry as part of the effort to scale up healthcare delivery to the citizenry and position also the country as the pharmaceutical hub in Africa.
