Government has fully paid 6,000 Arabic teachers-Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has disclosed that the government has fully paid all 6,000 Arabic teachers recruited under the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) programme to support Islamic education across the country.
Speaking at the Eid-ul-Adha celebration at the Black Star Square in Accra, President Mahama said the initiative was aimed at creating employment opportunities for young people while strengthening Arabic and Islamic education.
According to him, the recruited teachers have all received their salaries without delay.
“Government does not owe them one cedi. We have paid them up to date,” the President stated.
He commended the Chief Executive Officer of the YEA, Malik Basintale, and the management of the agency for ensuring the successful implementation of the programme.
“I commend the CEO of the YEA, Malik Basintale, and management for ensuring that the recruited teachers have been engaged and paid for their work,” he added.
President Mahama further announced that the government intends to expand the programme significantly in the coming years to provide more employment opportunities for Arabic teachers and support Islamic education nationwide.
The President said the initiative forms part of the government’s broader agenda to create jobs for young people and improve educational opportunities in communities across the country.
Touching on development in Zongo communities, President Mahama disclosed that the government would soon begin construction and rehabilitation of roads and other infrastructure projects in several Zongo areas nationwide.
He also announced plans to construct modern community day senior high schools in densely populated urban and Zongo communities to improve access to secondary education.
President Mahama reiterated his administration’s commitment to job creation, skills development and inclusive national development aimed at improving the living conditions of ordinary Ghanaians.
