Recruiting people who drink and use drugs fuels misconduct in security services – Kwabena Owusu Dankwah (KOD)

Kwabena Owusu Dankwah has called for stricter vetting in the recruitment process of security services, arguing that many misconduct issues within the sector could be reduced if authorities avoid enlisting individuals with substance abuse habits.

Speaking on Kessben FM, KOD stated that “miscreants” within the security services often undermine discipline and public trust, and suggested that better screening could help address the problem at its root.

He specifically urged recruitment agencies to carefully assess candidates’ lifestyles, warning that individuals who engage in alcohol abuse and drug use should not be allowed into sensitive security roles.

According to him, improving recruitment standards would strengthen professionalism and reduce incidents of misconduct within the security sector.
