Kingsley Bonsu Kyeretwie, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called for the resignation of Greater Accra Regional Minister Linda Ocloo following her controversial remarks describing transfers to northern Ghana as a form of “punishment.”
Speaking on Kessben FM, Bonsu Kyeretwie criticised the comment, describing it as unfortunate and disrespectful to people living and working in the northern part of the country.
According to him, the statement has generated public backlash because it reinforces negative perceptions about the northern regions and undermines national unity.
“It’s not the first time; she must resign,” he stated during the discussion, insisting that public officials should be more careful with their comments, especially on sensitive national issues.
The controversy surrounding the minister’s remarks has sparked debate on social media and political platforms, with many Ghanaians expressing mixed reactions over the statement and its implications.
Bonsu Kyeretwie further urged political leaders to promote inclusiveness and avoid comments that could deepen regional divisions in the country.
