Amaniampong SHS Incident: Some of the teachers have this mad attitude, the school should not shield them & must be dealt with – Kwasi Mensah

Kwasi Mensah has strongly criticized what he describes as a pattern of abusive behavior by some teachers in senior high schools, following a reported incident at Amaniapong Senior High School.

Reacting to the case, Mensah expressed outrage over claims that a teacher severely beat a student for failing to attend an all-night church service. He described such conduct as unacceptable, stating that “some teachers in SHSs are fond of that madness attitude” and must be held accountable.

The incident, which has gained attention in parts of Ghana, has sparked debate about student rights, the role of religion in schools, and disciplinary practices. Critics argue that forcing students to participate in religious activities violates their freedoms, while also raising concerns about the use of corporal punishment.

Kwasi Mensah urged education authorities to take decisive action against any staff found culpable, warning that failure to act could embolden further misconduct. He also called for stronger oversight mechanisms to protect students from abuse.

The case continues to generate public reaction, with many calling for a thorough investigation and appropriate sanctions if the allegations are confirmed.
