SAD NEWS: Condom prices to go up due Iran war – Details

The world’s largest condom manufacturer, Karex, has announced plans to significantly increase prices due to supply chain disruptions linked to the ongoing Iran war.
According to the company’s leadership, prices could rise by between 20% and 30% as the conflict continues to impact the global flow of key raw materials used in production.
The Malaysia-based firm, which produces more than five billion condoms annually and supplies major global brands, says it has been hit by rising costs of petrochemical-based inputs such as synthetic rubber, lubricants, and packaging materials, many sourced from or affected by instability in the Middle East.
Chief Executive Officer Goh Miah Kiat noted that shipping delays and higher freight costs have further strained operations, with delivery times to some regions nearly doubling.
The price adjustment comes at a time when global demand for condoms is also rising, partly due to economic uncertainty and reduced stockpiles in several countries.
Industry analysts say the situation reflects broader economic ripple effects of the Iran conflict, which has disrupted energy supplies and driven up costs across multiple sectors reliant on oil-based materials.
Despite the challenges, Karex says it plans to increase production to meet demand, though consumers worldwide may soon feel the impact through higher retail prices.
