NDC’s past stance fuels current sole sourcing controversy – Kwasi Mensah

Kwasi Mensah has criticised the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over its use of sole-sourcing procurement in government, describing the development as unsurprising given its past stance.

Speaking on Kessben FM with host Wofa Kofi Appiah, Mensah argued that the NDC’s current actions would not have attracted attention if the party had not strongly opposed sole sourcing while in opposition.

According to him, the NDC had previously made significant “noise” about the practice, raising concerns about transparency and accountability. He noted that their decision to now award contracts through sole sourcing in government has therefore sparked public debate and criticism.

Mensah suggested that the controversy stems largely from what he described as a contradiction between the party’s earlier position and its current actions in office.

He added that consistency in governance is essential to maintaining public trust, urging political actors to align their policies and practices with the principles they advocate while in opposition.
