
Police in the Ashanti South Region have arrested three persons in connection with the alleged murder of the Kusasi Chief in Asawase in July 2025.
The suspects have been identified as Jamil Usman, also known as Babamu or Guru, Suleman Yasir Arafat, alias Obasanjo, and Ashiadu Sumbeida, also known as Eyeshadow
Addressing the media in Bekwai on Tuesday, March 17, the Ashanti South Regional Police Commander, Joseph Hammond Nyaaba, said arrangements are underway to transfer the suspects to the Ashanti Regional Police Command for further investigations.
He disclosed that a key suspect, identified as Illiasu, also known as Abodam, remains at large and appealed to the public to assist the police with information leading to his arrest.
DCOP Nyaaba also revealed that the police retrieved two AK-47 assault rifles, one pump-action gun, two pistols, and 44 rounds of .32 ammunition during the operation.
He noted that the arrests and the weapons recovered underscore the seriousness of the police operation in tackling violent crime in the area.
The Regional Commander expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police for his continued support and commended officers involved in the operation for their dedication. He also acknowledged the role of the public in providing critical information to aid the arrests.
