Strengthen Institutions to Prevent Corruption – Dr. Peter Tekpeh urges Governance Advocate
Story: Maurice Otoo

Peter Tekpeh, has called for stronger institutional measures and independent mechanisms to combat corruption and recover misappropriated public funds.
In a zoom meeting on Kessben TV’s Digest, Dr. Tekpeh, said the fight against corruption must go beyond exposing wrongdoing through audit reports and focus on establishing effective systems that ensure stolen resources are recovered.
“We are not tired of speaking on corruption and corrupt practices,” he said, stressing that the country must remain committed to addressing financial irregularities in the public sector.
Dr. Tekpeh noted that after audit findings are made public, there should be an independent unit dedicated to pursuing recoveries to ensure that individuals responsible for financial losses to the state are held accountable.
He further emphasized the need for preventative strategies rather than merely highlighting cases of corruption.
“We should look at preventative measures rather than just expose,” he stated, adding that strengthening state institutions will help curb waste and prevent similar occurrences in the future.
Dr. Tekpeh maintained that building robust systems within public institutions is critical to safeguarding national resources and promoting transparency and accountability in governance.
