Cedi appreciation linked to Bawumia’s Policy Foundation, Says Rev. Ntim Fordjour

The recent appreciation of the Ghanaian cedi is a direct result of the strong economic policies laid by former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, according to Rev. Ntim Fordjour, Member of Parliament for Assin South.

Speaking on Kessben FM’s Maakye morning show with host Wofa Kofi Appiah, Rev. Fordjour stated that the stability being witnessed in the foreign exchange market did not happen by chance but is rooted in deliberate and forward looking policies implemented in previous years.

He cited the Gold for Reserves policy as a key example, explaining that the initiative helped strengthen Ghana’s foreign reserves, reduced pressure on the dollar, and boosted confidence in the local currency. According to him, such policies created a solid economic foundation that is now yielding positive results.

Rev. Fordjour emphasized that sound economic planning requires consistency and long term vision, attributes he credited to Dr. Bawumia’s leadership while in office. He urged Ghanaians to appreciate the impact of these policies and acknowledge the role they continue to play in stabilizing the economy.
